If your SnorBanŽ is not working as well as it used to, it may be too old, stretched, or was not fitted with enough extension.

The average useful life of a SnorBanŽ is 6 months to 18 months. We have some cases that have extra strong jaw muscles that stretch it out in about 6 weeks. We also have people that have used their mouthpiece for 3 years before replacing it. If your mouthpiece is very discolored and/or harder than it used to be, it is time to replace it.

Many people report that they have stretched it out of position. If this happens you can re-heat it and re-mold it just like when it was new. This may be done 2 or 3 times. After that we recommend replacing it.

A proper fit wil have just enough jaw extension to reduce snoring. Too much extension will pull unnecessarily on your joints and muscles, too little will not provide much snoring relief. Only you will know when it is right. If in doubt consult your doctor or dentist (familiar with mandibular advancement devices). A proper fit should also have a good impression of every tooth in the plastic mouthpiece. If you have pushed properly when the mouthpiece was hot with your fingers on the outside and your tongue on the inside you will see each tooth clearly. This is important to provide the maximum support across as many teeth as possible. Insufficient support causes extra pressure on the teeth that are doing all of the work in holding your jaw forward. This can result in the lower front teeth being tipped out more in the morning than is necessary, which takes longer to recover your normal bite.
